At Paws Of Hope Animal Wellness Center, your pet’s safety, health and well-being is our first priority. On your pet’s surgery day, we welcome you to stay with your pet during our pre-surgical evaluation and throughout their stay with us! If you choose to stay throughout their procedure, we offer a comfortable environment for you to relax during your pet’s surgery, and once your pet is stable he or she will be brought into your room so that you can be close to them during their recovery. Our surgical suite offers a client viewing area allowing you to watch your pet’s surgery if you wish.
During all surgical procedures, vital signs on patients are monitored. Our monitoring equipment is used to measure heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen levels, CO2 levels, blood pressure, and temperature. Pain medication is given just before all surgical procedures because keeping your pet comfortable is our top priority. If the surgery requires additional pain medication, we will administer as soon as our veterinarian deems safe, in addition to sending medicine home with your pet if appropriate. While in recovery, a nurse monitors your pet and he/she is kept warm with warming pads and blankets in a crib-like environment in our recovery area. Our wire kennels allow us to have a 360 degree view of your pet and we line the kennels with bumper pads. This not only provides a safe environment but a comfortable one.
